What will this Gentrax 2 kVA generator run?
"It delivers around 1700–2000 watts of continuous power, meaning you can run:
A fridge + lights + TV together, or
A microwave or coffee maker, or
A small caravan AC unit (depending on size).
Always check your appliances’ wattage to avoid overloading.
" -
How much fuel does this 2kW generator use?
With a 4.1 L fuel capacity, this Gentrax 2000 W inverter generator is highly fuel-efficient. At 50% load, it uses roughly 0.67 L of fuel per hour, making it economical for both camping trips and home backup.
-
How long will the generator run?
This 2000-watt inverter generator offers up to 6.1 hours of runtime at 50% load on a full tank and up to 4.1 hours at 100% load. Runtime will vary depending on the appliances connected, but eco-mode can extend fuel efficiency even further.
-
Can I use this generator in a National Park?
Generally, generators below 65dB are allowed in parks as they are considered quiet generators. Our Gentrax units have an average noise level of 58dB at 7m, which is similar to the sound of a low TV volume. However, it's still best to check with the relevant agency managing the national parks that you want to visit in case of additional requirements.
-
Can I plug an extension cord into my portable generator?
Yes.
Wattage and Gauge: Make sure the extension cord is rated for the combined wattage of this generator and the devices you intend to connect to it. Overheating and possible risks can result from insufficient capacity extension cords. For the suggested cord gauge and wattage limits, refer to the user manual.
Length: Keep the extension cord as short as possible to minimize power loss and voltage drop. Longer cords can result in reduced power output and may affect the performance of your devices. If you need to use an extension cord, choose the shortest length that will reach your intended location.
-
What is the difference between running (rated) watts and starting (surge) watts?
The term "running watts" also called the continuous or rated watts, describes how much power an electrical device continuously uses when it is runing. Conversely, starting watts tell the extra power required for certain appliances or equipment to turn on, also known as the peak or surge watts.
-
What is a transfer switch, and should I get one?
A transfer switch for a generator is a device that allows you to switch the power source of your home or business from the main power grid to a backup generator. This generator does not have this feature.
-
How do I clean my inverter generator?
Please refer to this maintenance chart for your portable generator's interval of cleaning.
-
What should I do if I do not intend to use my generator for more than 30 days?
Steps to follow for long-term generator storage:
1. Drain the fuel from the fuel tank and carby.
2. Remove the spark plug and pour about 15 ml of oil (SAE 10W30) into the spark plug hole before reinstalling it.
3. Use the recoil starter to turn the engine over several times (with the engine switch off).
4. Pull the recoil starter until you feel the compression, then stop.
5. Clean the exterior of the generator and apply a rust inhibitor.
6. Store the generator in a dry, well-ventilated area.
7. Cover the generator.

What is an inverter generator and why does it matter?
An inverter generator is a type of portable generator that produces electricity in a highly regulated and clean manner by first producing AC (alternating current) electricity, which is then transformed into DC (direct current) power, and then back to AC power with the desired level of voltage and frequency, using inverters. They are known for their fuel efficiency, quieter operation, and clean electrical output, which makes them ideal for powering sensitive electronic devices, such as laptops, smartphones, and medical equipment. They are also typically lighter and more compact than conventional generators, making them easier to transport and store.
What is pure sine wave and why does it matter?
A pure sine wave is a smooth, continuous waveform that oscillates between positive and negative voltage values in a consistently predictable pattern. When it comes to power generating equipment such as inverters and generators, having a pure sine wave output is important because many sensitive electronic devices, such as laptops, TVs, and medical equipment, require clean power to function properly and not be damaged.
What appliances can this generator power?
This best-selling Gentrax generator can power appliances that require up to 3.85kW output for starting and 3.5kW output for running.
What type of oil is best for Gentrax inverter generators?
For Gentrax generators, we recommend using a 10w30 small engine, 4-stroke oil. Here's an example for reference: https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/penrite-penrite-small-engine-4-stroke-engine-oil---10w-30-1-litre/346381.html

Does this generator have a digital inverter?
Yes, all Gentrax generators have digital inverter technology, which produces pure sine wave output - a 'clean' energy output that is safe to power sensitive electrical appliances.
