Ignition Module for Gentrax Generator (GT/GS4000/6500)
How many times do we need to change the air filter?
You will need to clean the filter every 3 months or 50 hours. Replacement is only necessary if there’s any damage such as a tear in the foam.
How do you clean the carburetor?
Step 1: Before starting, ensure that the generator is turned off, and the engine is cool.
Step 2: Locate the carburetor on your generator. It's located near the engine and behind the air filter. You'll need to remove the air filter to gain access to the carburetor.
Step 3: To prevent fuel from flowing into the carburetor during the cleaning process, you'll need to shut off the fuel supply and disconnect the fuel line.
Step 4: Use a screwdriver or wrench to remove the bolts or screws securing the carburetor to the engine. Be gentle and make note of where each bolt or screw goes, as they may vary in size and length. Carefully detach the carburetor from the engine.
Step 5: Take the carburetor to a well-ventilated area, preferably outdoors, and place it on a clean work surface. Carefully disassemble the carburetor by removing any screws, nuts, or clips that hold it together. Keep track of the parts you remove.
Step 6: Fill a container with petrol. Submerge all metal and plastic parts of the carburetor in the petrol and let them soak for at least 30 minutes to dissolve dirt and varnish.
Step 7: Use compressed air or a can of compressed air to blow out small passages, jets, and channels in the carburetor. Be thorough in cleaning these areas, as clogs in these passages can cause poor engine performance.
Step 8: After soaking and cleaning, carefully reassemble the carburetor, ensuring all parts are in their correct positions. Replace any gaskets or seals with new ones from a carburetor rebuild kit if necessary.
Step 9: Return the cleaned and reassembled carburetor to its original position on the generator's engine. Reattach it using the bolts or screws you removed earlier. Tighten them securely but not excessively to avoid damaging the carburetor.
Step 10: Reconnect the fuel line to the carburetor and turn on the fuel supply. Check for any leaks and make sure the connection is secure.
Step 11: Start the generator and let it run for a few minutes to ensure it's running smoothly. If you notice any issues or rough idling, you may need to adjust the carburetor settings.
What can you use to lubricate the fuel pump?
For Gentrax generators, there is no need to lubricate the fuel pump as long as you use the recommended, high quality 10W30 oil.
What does the ignition module do?
The main role of a generator ignition module is to ensure the proper timing of spark plug firing for your engine to run properly. It's located directly behind the control panel, specifically behind the indicator lights.
How do I know if my spark plug needs replacing?
Check the spark plug for any signs of corrosion, cracks, or other physical damage. If the spark plug electrode has blackened, fouled with carbon deposits, or covered in oil, this may lead to a poor spark and reduced performance.
How long does the battery in Gentrax remote start generators last?
The battery used in Gentrax remote generators have a life span of about three years, which can be extended with proper usage, charging, and general maintenance.
